Kollengode Palace, Palakkad district
 

Located at about 20 km south of Palakkad town Kollengode is a Picturistic village with acres of green rice fields which forms a green scenic beauty. Kollengode, land of Black smiths which also known as Vengunadu is once ruled by the Kollengode raja from the magnificent palace situated at Kovilammukku. Even though a large part of the palace is now abolished the part which is left is a Kalari kovilakam which now functions as an Ayurveda resort.

 
The palace is a main example of the traditional architectural style of Kerala and also one of the best place among Palakkad sightseeing attractions. The Archaeological museum is located in the Kollengode Palace and houses a collection of murals from all over Kerala. The Archaeological museum is located in the Kollengode Palace and houses a collection of murals from different parts of Kerala.  On display here is a well-preserved and extraordinary treasure of Veerakallu or hero stones, which are stone engravings, and sculptures of heroes of the bygone era. Also exhibited are temple models, palm leaf manuscripts, megaliths etc. Most of the exhibits here were recovered from the forests of Thrissur and Wayanad.
